లతో నేర్చుకుందాం!

ఇప్పుడు చెప్పు ఎందుకు వచ్చావో

ticket in the elections ( తెలుగు క్రితం రాత్రి
హరి, కామేష్ అన్యాయార్జిత డబ్బును గురించి
మాట్లాడుకుంటున్నారు. ఎన్నికల్లో టికెట్ పొందడానికి
హరి మంత్రికి లంచం ఇవ్వాలనుకుంటున్నారు...
Notes:
1. soft drink = What we wrongly call
cool drink (మను మామూలుగా కూల్ డ్రింక్ అనేది
Examples of soft drinks are Coke. Pepsi. 2.
Hard drinks Alcoholic drinks (మత్తు
పానీయాలు. That will do - That is enough
(B) 4. Call on = visit someone (8
పాంట్లో కలుసుకోవడం...overheard - the
past tense of overhear = Hearing without
their knowing persons talking to one
another (ఇతరుల మాటలను వారికి తెలియకుండా
ఉద్దేశం లేకుండా వినడం.. Brush aside -
Ignore (పట్టించుకోకపోవడం
Now look at the following sentences
from the conversation above:

Now let us discuss the expressions in
detail:
1.Towet someone's whistle - Have a
dank, usually an alcoholic one (ఏదైనా
పానీయం తాగడం, మామూలుగా మత్తు పానీయం)
a) Vinayak: Where were Balu and
Madhav last night? I wanted to talk to
them about next week's programme (బాలూ,
సూడన్లు నిన్న రాత్రి ఎక్కడ ఉన్నారు. వాళ్లతో నేను

వాలి!కానీ దానికి బదులు బ్రాందీ, సోడాతో నోరు
తడుపుకున్నారు.
Janardhan: So you know, When I asked
them abour lit. they brushed it aside and
changed the topic (అయితే మీకు తెలుసన్నమాటు
నేను వాళ్లను దాన్ని గురించి అడిగినప్పుడు పెద్దగా
Venkatesh: Hari could not get the ticket
in the last election. The minister, his close
friend tried to sugar the pill hy promising
the ticket this time హరికిపోయిన ఎన్నికల్లో
టికెట్ రాలేదు అతని స్నేహితుడు ఆ మంత్రి తీయని
రసాలు వస్తుందని మాట
ఇచ్చారు.
